Human Resources Manager

We are looking for a highly relational and experienced Human Resources (HR) Manager to join our leadership team. The HR Manager will play a vital role in ensuring that the camp operates smoothly by leading all aspects of Human Resources activities, including recruitment, staff development, employee relations, and compliance. The Role:
Develop a strong people strategy and drive implementation of all HR activities with a Biblical perspective that creates staff engagement and supports the ministry’s mission through its people:
- Team Leadership: Lead a multi-member HR team to enhance efficiency and effectiveness while partnering with Hume’s senior leaders to align HR efforts with the ministry's goals.
- HR Operations: Effectively manage, maintain, and optimize the HRIS including administration of benefits. Proven track record of partnering with Finance and Supervisors to ensure accurate people transactions.
- Recruitment & Staffing: Lead and partner with the Recruitment Specialist to drive an effective hiring process for all camp staff, including seasonal and full-time positions. This includes recruiting events, job fairs, job postings, interviewing, and onboarding.
- Staff Development: Design and implement training programs that align with our mission and values. Provide ongoing professional development and spiritual support for staff members.
- Employee Relations: Professionally and pastorally navigates complex employee relations issues. Work effectively with supervisors and staff regarding HR-related concerns. Partners with Hume’s legal counsel on sensitive legal matters both proactively and in response to legal issues. Promote a positive work culture by addressing issues promptly and effectively.
- Performance Management: Lead the performance review process. Training of leaders on effective coaching and feedback through formal disciplinary processes.
- Policy Development: Develop, implement, and maintain HR policies that are consistent with Christian principles and legal requirements.
- Compliance: Ensure the camp complies with all relevant employment laws and regulations. Maintain accurate employee records and manage benefits administration.
- Conflict Resolution: Mediate and resolve conflicts in a manner that reflects Christian values and promotes reconciliation and unity among staff.
- Health & Safety: Work closely with the camp’s leadership team to ensure a safe and healthy working environment for all staff, while adhering to legal requirements and industry best practices regarding workplace safety
Our ideal candidate:
- Has worked at least 2 years in a church, faith-based ministry or Christian camp preferred, but not required.
- Active SPHR or SHRM-SCP certification preferred, but not required.
- Is an excellent communicator electronically, in-person, and in writing.
- Minimum of 2 years of demonstrated strong leadership skills and held a position as a HR Manager or similar.
- Extremely knowledgeable of California compliance and laws, benefits, performance management, and the various facets of HR.
- Proficiency in HR software, Microsoft Office Suite, and database management.
- Open to working from the Fresno office location and be on-site, when needed.
- Able to agree with our Statement of Belief and abide by the Standard of Conduct.

Salary range:$80,000-$90,000/year
